Companions 7/21/05

Being alone is not much fun
we need to have a way
to share the victories we've won.
A way to get a pat on the back
to make up for the times of attack.
A variety of things come to mind
but what's best for each
is sometimes hard to find.
For some one's family survives the test
parents and siblings seem to be best.
For others a mate is found to be the one
with to share the victories we've won.
Still others have found friends fill the bill
to share the experiences at the top of the hill.
No matter what way for you is best
be sure to have one as it's easier to rest.

Futures 3/02

I once pictured a future of family with husband and kids.
I had it for awhile and then it turned on me.
I thought I had a second chance a future for me and my girls,
but it turned on me as well.

My kids all grown, my husband gone, I needed someone to lean on.
Two different times the Lord provided but I misread the signs
and wound up losing almost everything - very little could I find.
Now again I have a chance a future with happiness to hold.
I am so scared that once again, I’ll be left in the cold.

Family 1/03

Family is as family does
One is given from up above.
For some the family received at birth
becomes the center of their universe.
Others from these families are split,
and often they can’t undrstand the why of it.

Other families are also given
To those who take the time to try.
Not families of blood, but families of tears
Brought together overtime because of willing ears.

The second families can become
Stronger than some families of blood,
Often forgiving mistakes that are made
Keeping an open mind even when trust is mislaid.
Binding close together when all dues are paid.
Brothers and sisters hard times have made.

Visions 1/02

A life, a light, a vision so bright
Sometimes it’s hard to keep in sight.

A life, a light, a vision so bright
Don’t let life run it into the night.

For visions are made to work toward and achieve
They shouldn’t be allowed to up and leave.

The Most Important Thing 3/03

There are times when life feels so empty
Yet other times when it’s filled a plenty
But no matter what life in general brings
What’s really important is just one thing.

It’s easy to think we’re on our own
When no one’s around and no place to call home
But no matter what life in general brings

When we’ve someone who loves us and a roof o’er our heads
It’s easy for our feelings to be mislead
But no matter what life in general brings

To know ourselves and like what we see
Is more important then the you or we
Because no matter what life in general brings
That’s really the most important thing.

Live and Let Live 2/03

Live and let live many will say,
But love and be loved is a far better way.

Love one as a friend and a friend he will be,
But love as a lover you may only trouble see.

First friend you must be for a love to grow strong.
Sometimes, but not always, you may have to wait long.

There may even be times when it will never be.
But stronger friends you will be, just wait and see.

Completions 5/26/05

The ending of some things is sometimes hard
But being able to complete it should be held in high regard.
In some things we do, good friends are made,
So completing gives us a fear that the friendships will fade.

Completion itself is a step forward
Opening a door we know not what toward.
Yet as new doors open, it may be easy to see
That new friends there may also be.

So to all in this group who can relate
I just want to say, before it’s too late,
That the time we’ve had together to me has meant much
And I’m thankful for all of you for my life you have touched.

Understanding 7/19/05

Understanding life is often not meant to be
What happens to ourselves and others
Sometimes we’re just not meant to see.

To understand the why of things is not always our due
But often we ask anyways “Please give me a clue,
Just a hint to help us accept the things”
Sometimes not even many prayers seem to bring.

But Faith that it was meant to be
Can be ours for the asking most times you see.
We may not understand the why
But with a little bit of faith, We can get by.

May My Life 7/19/05

There is but one thing I ask,
when all my suffering is done
That my life may have touched others
When my final victory is won.

When this life for me is over and complete
May my life have touched others
to have victory in defeat.

When on this earth I walk no more
May my life have touched someone
and helped lead them to the Golden Shore.

I know not when my walk will be done
That is known only by the Almighty One,
But while I am here, I ask just one thing,
That my life may touch others
and help them to sing.

Count Me Blessed 7/19/05

I am a diabetic, my health is poor,
I hurt all the time as there’s no arthritic cure,
But all the same I count myself blessed,
For I AM ALIVE - not some of the rest!

I have lost my job - my health and my home
I lost my friends and my family
through no fault of my own,
But all the same I count myself blessed,
For I AM ALIVE - not some of the rest!

I am fighting Depression and PTSD too.
Many don’t understand what these things can do,
But all the same I count myself blessed,
For I AM ALIVE - not some of the rest!
